First United Methodist Church – Tahoka, Texas

5:20 pm Quorum Present: Vernon Baker, Shannon Lawson, Dee Dee Pridmore, Frances Truehart and Julia
Allen.

Meeting was called to order and Vernon led the Invocation. The minutes were unanimously approved as
presented.

Financial report showed a balance of $52,878.02. We discussed the possibility of becoming a 501C3 for
donations.

Julia reported on the mini-park project. The next phase will be a 5ft sidewalk around the play area with
benches. We also discussed the pouring of the basketball court with estimation on a 60×30 court at
$5,700.00. We will replace the table/bench combinations that are currently under the gazebo. Julia
estimated $15,000 to $18,000 for the next phase. The board authorized Julia to spend up to $18,000 on the next phase. Julia will get with Designs and Daisy’s about some signs to put at each project site.

Welcome Signage was discussed and Frances reported that the letters have been ordered from Sanco and should cost approximately $1,475.00. We will work with Lyntegar as they build at the 380/87 site to
incorporate some of our needs into their sign as well.

The Mural Project was discussed and the board agreed to allocate up to $5,000.00 for the first part of that project which will include soda blasting and mortar repair on the three walls that were previously painted and then we will look at replacing them with some stand alone, billboard type signs.

Shannon will start work on the Tahoka Brochures.

We also discussed the Texas Municipal League has some grant resources we need to look at for Rural
Renovation.

We set future meetings to be on the first Tuesday of each month beginning in October. Meetings will be
held in the meeting room at LCHD unless stated otherwise.
