Minutes from April 4, 2013 Meeting

ACT – Advancing the Community
Of Tahoka, TexasFirst United Methodist Church –Tahoka, Texas

5:20 pm Quorum Present: Dee Dee Pridmore, Gloria DeLeon, Vernon Baker and Frances Truehart.

Meeting was called to order and Vernon led the Invocation. The minutes were unanimously approved as
presented. It was discussed that our 2 year terms as board members is about to expire and each member needs to let Jerry Webster know as soon as possible whether or not they want to continue on the board.

Financial report showed a balance of $71,106.49.

Frances is checking with Sanco about when letters will be installed at north triangle. She is ready to
proceed with landscaping and will get some bids. Several local companies were discussed including Zero
Scape, Lubbock Turf Irrigation and a company Joe Boles works for (Vernon will get the name to Frances).
The 380 sign was discussed. Lyntegar wants it moved to the west end of the block on 380. We are going to check with Lyntegar about putting stainless steel letters on the sign (same font as N triangle) that say
Tahoka or Welcome to Tahoka to try to keep uniformity between our signs.

The Mini Park was discussed. Julia contacted the gentlemen from Playgrounds Etc. and they will be
building the benches soon and this will increase the warranty on the equipment. We talked about
maintenance of the parks but no decision was reached

The Mural Park has started moving along. JE Nance is getting his building fixed (removing old plaster and repairing missing bricks) and then we will get the building painted. Dee Dee has talked to Leighton Knox about repairing/repainting the benches and planters. He is willing. He asked that we un-bolt them from the cement and tag them so we will know where they go. He also stated that he would be willing to help us get the tin for the Murals when we get ready to do that phase and help us decide how best to affix them to the 100 year old buildings.

Vernon discussed the media center at the Life Enrichment Center. He is having trouble getting Lubbock
Audio Visual to come down and give us a bid. He will contact Tarpley Music Company and see what they
say.

The next meeting was set for 5-2-13 at 5:15 pm at First United Methodist Church.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:00pm.
