Minutes from March 7, 2013 Meeting
ACT – Advancing the Community
Of Tahoka, TexasFirst United Methodist Church – Tahoka, Texas
5:20 pm Quorum Present: Dee Dee Pridmore, Gloria DeLeon, Shannon Lawson and Julia Allen.
Meeting was called to order and DeeDee led the Invocation. The minutes were unanimously approved as
presented.
Financial report showed a balance of $67,443.51.
Julia mentioned that the company we purchased the benches from would be willing to come to Tahoka and build the benches and tables for us. They would charge $1,400 but that would also extend the warranty on them. Our other option is to have a work day and have community members put them together. She also voiced some concerns about maintenance at the park. It was decided that she would get some bids for weed spraying and lawn maintenance and present those figures at our next meeting.
Frances was not present but asked Julia to let us know that the sign company keeps assuring her that they are about ready to install the lettering. She also asked about water for the landscaping.
The school had asked if the ACT board might be interested in helping with funding of the renovation of the bathrooms at the baseball field. After some discussion it was decided that we would table this issue for the time being as we have several projects going on right now and we don’t want to spread ourselves too thin.
The Mural Park project is at a standstill right now waiting on lead testing to be done on the paint. We
discussed several different ways to proceed at the Mural Park. The brick is falling apart and it is feared that any effort to remove the existing paint will only make matters worse. We talked about putting a stucco wall up or possibly metal over it. Dee Dee will get some prices on each and see where we stand.
Shannon is working on the brochures. She had a mock up and we discussed some possible photos and info to be included in it.
The next meeting was set for 4-4-13 at 5:15 pm at First United Methodist Church.
