Minutes from April 7, 2015 Meeting
Poka Lambro Office – Tahoka, Texas
5:20 pm Quorum Present: Dee Dee Pridmore, Julia Allen, Jerry Ford,Jr., Michael Duncan, Donnis Scott and Carmen Chapa
Meeting was called to order and DeeDee led the invocation. The minutes were unanimously approved as presented.
Financial report showed a balance of $166,150.50.
New members were welcomed and informed of bylaws and training requirements. A copy of the bylaws will be emailed to new members.
Project #1
We discussed where this project was and what had been done. Donnis stated she could contact someone about landscaping as she is aware of another project happening for the county and could ask them to look at this project as well. Carmen noted that she has a contact in the TxDOT office in Brownfield and she could contact her to see if the original blueprints for the north triangle project.
Project #2
Julia noted that the wooden table covers have been removed from the Mini-Park and Tony is working on getting the metal covers up. It was discussed that Wildcat Mfg. can now do the Rhino lining on the tables and benches. It was decided unanimously that Wildcat Mfg. would build us 2 new tables/benches for placement at the park. Julia will talk with City Hall about getting grass going in the blank spot where the tennis courts were. It was discussed that we have been asked to join in on a city wide clean-up day which will be held June 6th.
Project #3
Jerry Ford Jr stated that there are 3 projects at the swimming pool that really need to be addressed before the pool is opened this summer. 1. The Kiddie Pool- needs some type of circulation pump. 2. Floor Drains in boys restroom & in Concession Stand- need to be re-worked so they will drain properly. 3. Sink in Concession Stand- currently there is not a sink in concession but it is agreed that there needs to be one. Jerry has spoken to John Wilson and he states he can get at least project 1 & 2 done before June 1st and in budget.
Project #4
DeeDee Pridmore discussed mural project and after discussion it was determined we would have a county wide contest in which artists could submit their ideas for the Mural Park. The winner or winners would have their artwork re-produced and placed in the mural park. Entries will be taken until May 5th and the contest will be open to all age groups. DeeDee will contact some different companies about getting the artwork erected at the park.
Several new projects were discussed including a possible truck stop and a campaign to tout Tahoka’s successful alumni.
Officers were elected and are as follows: Julia Allen- President, Jerry Ford Jr- Vice President, and DeeDee Pridmore- SecretaryTreasurer.
It was decided that the meeting date would be changed to the first Thursday of each month. The next meeting was set for May 7, 2015 at 5:15.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:40 pm.
