Poka Lambro Office – Tahoka, Texas
5:15 pm Quorum Present: Dee Dee Pridmore, Jerry Ford,Jr., Donnis Scott, Carmen Chapa, Shannon Lawson and Julia Allen
Meeting was called to order and Julia led the invocation. The minutes were unanimously approved as presented.
Financial report showed a balance of $162,547.98.
Donnis got the names and numbers of a couple of landscapers and she will call them and see if we can get moving on some zero scape. It was also discussed that the brick sign was having some structural issues so that will be looked at as well. It was discussed that we would like to see groundcover at the north triangle that would require no mowing and very little maintenance. Jerry Ford said he would look at the water at the triangle and see how it comes in there to understand if there are sprinklers or just a hose
Julia has two picnic tables ordered for under the new awnings but it was noted that there are three areas that need tables. We voted unanimously to add one more table which will be built by Wildcat Mfg. Julia stated that the next phase at the Mini Park will be the pavilion/basketball court. She will begin getting some figures together to present to the board at the August meeting.
Jerry Ford stated the Kiddie Pool is now circulating and the sink in the boy’s bathroom is running. This phase of the project came in under bid so Jerry has asked John Wilson to go ahead and add a sink and water heater in the concession stand for hand washing. It was also discussed that he would talk to Wildcat Mfg. about possible future applications of ‘rhino’ liner at the swimming pool.
Donnis states she has been doing some research on possible funding for renovation at the ball park. She had printed off a couple of grant applications which were given to Julia to look at. It was discussed that we would like to turn the existing fields all back to back with a central concession stand and restrooms. There would be a total of 5 fields after renovation which would include 1 baseball field, 1 soft ball field, 2 little league fields and 1 T-ball field. We were reminded that this was one item that the citizens of Tahoka were very interested in seeing changes in when the 4B sales tax was voted in.
Due to vacations and the 4th of July holiday it was decided that the next meeting would be August 6, 2015 at 5:15.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:25 pm.
