Minutes from March 14, 2019 Meeting
Tahoka Economic Development Board held its regular Board of Directors meeting on Thursday, March, 24, 2019, at City Hall.
The following board members were present: Bill Schoemann, Joe Craig, Star Bray, Casey McLelland, Monica Stephens, and Worth Whitworth.
The meeting was called to order by Bill and Joe Craig led the invocation. Worth Whitworth was installed as a new member.
The financial report was given reporting a bank balance of $349,794.00, interest earned in the amount of $262.86, and a monthly tax rebate of $5,020.08. It was stated that $50,000.00 will go to Senior Citizens after an audit process and funds pledged to Tahoka Little League.
Star and Bill presented information from the Sales Tax Training in Brownfield. The board was informed that the maximum sales tax rate is 2% and we are currently at that rate. Discussion regarding a paid Economic Developer/staff member could be funded. Also, discussion that projects can be funded within the county not only the city.
The board moved to open discussion of creation of a Texas National Children’s Museum. There was also discussion of power plants, transmission lines and the ERCOT power grid.
A motion was made by Monica and seconded by Joe to adjorn. Being no further business the meeting adjourned.
