August 18, 2020

Tahoka Economic Development Board. held its regular Board of Directors meeting on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at City Hall.  The following board members were present: Bill Schoemann, Ray Box, Al Garrett, and Monica Stephens.

The meeting was called to order by Bill Shoemann who also led the invocation.

The financial report given by Bill Shoemann.

David Partlow, the Director of Economic Development, discussed his position be cut to a 3 day week. With this change salary would be adjusted accordingly. This will be a savings to the Board. Mayor John Baker stated that David has been an asset to the city. The Board voted unanimously to make this change.

John Baker informed the board of the funds needed to complete the Senior Citizens facility. He also detailed why there was a shortage of funds on the project. Mr. Baker requested that TEDB approve $36,000 for the completion of the project.  A motion was made by Ray Box and seconded by Monica Stephens for the approval of funding with all in favor.

David Partlow, the Director of Economic Development, discussed the process for the Tahoka Business Grant Program.

Garrett Bond, owner of Sunset Endeavors LLC, submitted an application for the Business Grant Program. His request is to fund the purchase of hardware inventory. He hopes to have materials in place in 4-6 months. The Board voted unanimously to approve the request.

Michael Angeley also submitted an application for the Business Grant Program. His request is for property improvements to an existing building on Main Street. The business will offer coffee, ice, RO water, ice cream, soft drinks and other items. The board voted unanimously to approve the request.

The Board reviewed an approved a new budget for the 2020-2021 year, beginning in October.

A motion was made by Ray Box and seconded by Al Garrett to adjorn.

Being no further business the meeting adjourned.
