July 7, 2020

Tahoka Economic Development Board held its regular Board of Directors meeting on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at City Hall. The following board members were present: Bill Schoemann, Starr Bray, Joe Craig, Al Garrett, and Monica Stephens.

The meeting was called to order by Bill Shoemann and Ray Box led the invocation. The financial report stated that the balance on the account was $345,286.17 less a payment of $17,711.87 leaving a current balance of $327,574.30.

J.D. House spoke to the board regarding a shortage of funds for the completion of the Senior Citizens Facility. The amount short is not known at the time but should be $32,000-36,000. He updated the board on the progress being made and requesting assistance with the remaining funds.

Al Garrett was welcomed back to the board. Ray Box made to motion to retain the existing officers and Starr Bray seconded the motion.
Ray nominated Starr Bray for the Vice President position which was seconded by Al Garrett, the board voted unanimously.

David Partlow, the Director of Economic Development, presented the Tahoka Business Grant Program, intended to encourage reinvestment in the community. The board discussed removing the total investment required, allowing location to be considered on a case by case basis, and removal of the new employee requirement. Ray Box made a motion to accept the proposal with changes and Starr Bray seconded that motion. The board voted unanimously to accept, with Al Garrett abstaining from the vote.

David Partlow discussed projects he is currently working on, including a sheet metal shop in conjunction with Leighton Knox.

A motion was made by Starr Bray and seconded by Ray Box to adjorn.

Being no further business the meeting adjourned.
